The Casale Traditional Shotokan Karate Dojo was established in Brooklyn, New York in 1986. It remains one of the most well known and respected schools of Traditional Shotokan Karate-Do in the United States and is one of the few schools that continues to teach pure Traditional Japanese Karate-Do in the Traditional Japanese way. Since 1986 we have taught over 5000 students in our dojos and various programs in the New York area. Students at our dojo learn EXACTLY the same way students learn in Japan. Ancient Japanese and Okinawan training methods are augmented with respect to cutting edge research in Sports Science.

From 1986 to 2000, The Casale Traditional Shotokan Karate Dojo was part of the world famous J.K.A. (Japan Karate Association) under the auspices of Master Masatoshi Nakayama. In 2002, The Casale Traditional Shotokan Karate Dojo joined the J.S.K.A. (Japan Shotokan Karate Association). At that time the name of our dojo and organization was changed to the The Japan Shotokan Karate Association – USA (JSKA-USA).

JSKA-USA is not a large commercial operation. For us, Karate is not a business, it is a way of life. Sensei Casale personally teaches all the training sessions and there are rarely more than 10-15 students in a class. Because of this, students receive higher quality instruction than in other Karate schools. It is very rare for students to have direct daily instruction from an internationally licensed instructor with Sensei Casale's experience and credentials.

JSKA-USA has UCHIDESHI (live in student) accommodations. Students, instructors and world class competitors come from all over the world to live in the JSKA-USA Karate Dojo and train with Sensei Casale. In addition to this, JSKA-USA frequently takes part in anti-drug activities and donates funds and services to charities and local community groups.

Our goal is to develop our students into disciplined, healthy and confident individuals who will have the courage and strength to do the right things in their lives. Safety is paramount in our teaching methods and since 1986 we have an ABSOLUTELY PERFECT SAFETY RECORD.

JSKA-USA is a founding member of the USA-SKF (USA Shotokan Karate Federation). USA-SKF is a national organization dedicated to unifying traditional Shotokan Karate organizations in the USA in a non-political environment of education, honesty and friendship.
